About the Center

Mission

To develop learning partnerships between universities and electric cooperatives to navigate the energy transition.

The Electric Cooperative Innovation Center (ECIC) is a joint initiative of the University of Minnesota’s Center for Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy (CSTEP) and the University of California Davis’s Energy and Efficiency Institute (EEI).

In this video, ECIC's Co-Directors, Dr. Gabe Chan (University of Minnesota) and Dr. Keith Taylor (University of California-Davis), introduce ECIC. The video features highlights from the ECIC-led class at the University of Minnesota where graduate students met with electric cooperatives in Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota in Spring 2022.
