ECIC parent organization to establish center for technical assistance for federal funding

ECIC’s Minnesota based parent organization, the University of Minnesota Center for Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy (CSTEP), has received a $10 million grant to establish a Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center (TCTAC) for the Great Lakes Region (EPA Region 5: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio). The Great Lakes TCTAC will provide technical support to rural, remote, and underserved communities in the region in pursuit of environment and energy-related federal funding opportunities, particular through the EPA and DOE.

Under the University of Minnesota’s leadership, other participating organizations across the six-state region are:

  • Michigan State University, Purdue University in Indiana, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the Ohio State University

  • The Midwest Tribal Energy Resources Association

  • The Great Plains Institute

  • Community Engineering Corps

  • Environmental Protection Network

Organizations, including electric cooperatives, interested in learning about technical assistance services should contact tctac@umn.edu.
